BlogHer was amazing. Yes, it's insanely busy... you're always scheduled to do something... BUT, it's worth it. I learned quite a bit at the sessions I did attend... but, the best thing about this conference is being around all of these bloggers! It was so great to be able to talk about my blog without getting the, "yeah, I know you blog already" look. The bloggers were my favorite part of the whole conference. Loved it. Seriously... these bloggers are CA-razay! In a good way.... of course. ;)
Sooo.... There are so many lovely blogger ladies in the photos below. I'm just going to list their names and sweet blogs here: Mae from Parenting in Progress, Jill from Baby Rabies, Jenni from the Blog, Torie of 25 Designs, Beth Anne of Heir to Blair, Morgan from the 818, Alena from Charmingly Chandler, Hannah from Peggy Ann Design, Jenna from Blogged Bliss, Mandy from Harper's Happenings, Erika of Bird E Studios, Dumb Mom from Parenting by Dummies, Suzanne of Bebeblog, Mandey from Mama and the Dudes, Molly from a Day in Mollywood, Stephanie from Mrs. Stephanie T., and... of course: I was there!
Ummm.... and, here are my millions of iPhone pics I took. :D Linking up with Amy of course. :D
AND... because this post should just be longer.... This is how we kicked off BlogHer '11:
I have more to share about what I'd do different next year... and what I've learned (because I know you want to know...). For now... just a few highlights and dislikes.
Highlights:
- The bloggers.
- The sessions.
- Hand-dipped Dove bar.
- The session with Gluten Free Girl.
- Seriously... all the bloggers I met. The BEST thing.
- The first day in San Diego. So fun.
- My roomies.
- Your mom. Just kidding... just checking to see if you were still paying attention. ;)
- Day drinking... I know... But, it was fun.
- The first day's breakfast.... hash browns... bacon... WTF? Yes. AMAZING.
Dislikes:
- Lack of sleep.
- Missing my baby.
- Not being able to clone myself to be two places at one time.
- missing my baby.
- Thinking it was a good idea to fly out at 6:30 am on Sunday morning... wha? Yeah... 3 hours of sleep.
- Lack of sleep.
- The second day's breakfast.... oatmeal... bagels... fruit... meh.
Sadly... I met these ladies (and two dudes) and did not manage to get photos with them (well, I think I'm in a couple cell phone pics with a couple ladies): Jamie from the Grumbles and Grunts, Kylee from Two Pretzels, Krystal from Tie a Little Ribbon, How to Be a Dad's, Katie from Pickles and Paisleys, Miranda from Not Super Just Mom, Amanda from a Martini Always Helps, Angry Julie, Stephanie of Goober Grape and Monkey Man, Kelly from Turnip Farmer, Nanette from Say it, don't spray it, and so many more!

Thank you Jessica for guest posting while I'm away at BlogHer! Please give Jessica and her sweet family a visit when you get a moment here: TART
.........................................................................................................................
Hi there! I'm Jessica from TART and so happy to be guest posting for the lovely Chelsey! I thought I'd share some of my hair tips with you guys.. they're not perfect but that's the point. They're the quick(lazy) tips and methods for achieving the looks I was going for and I hope at least one (or all three) of them will be something you'll want to try yourself and have fun with!
1st- My more modern look. It's basically just a tip about how I have my hair cut, but I also share one simple way to spice it up with an accessory that I'm sure you've seen many times before.
2nd- My 1950s pinup inspired look that I can't get enough of. This is my lazy method but I think it still looks just as cute as when I go all out and spend a lot of time on it. Note: if you have bangs like me you can curl them under (down towards your forehead, not up towards your part) and bobby pin them to achieve a quick, more authentic barrel look if you want.
3rd- My 1920s flapper inspired look. I was trying to keep the video short and sweet so don't mind the fly-aways and too-loose pin curls. This is one of my favorite hairstyles for a night out on the town.
Thanks for watching and enjoy!
❤

{Last week my family and I celebrated my grandpa's life. He passed away a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't a shock... he's been sick for some time. He was a veteran of World War II... so, it was a veterans funeral... I've never been to one. It was actually very beautiful. They did the 3 salute shot, the flag folding, and the very sweet/sad funeral trumpet song for him.}
{The trumpet song was so beautiful I immediately started crying. Not just for my grandpa and his kids (my uncles and mom), but for all the soldiers that lose their lives in battle... I spotted a few young women in the cemetery with their young children... I'm tearing up right now just thinking of losing your husband so young. I couldn't even imagine.}
{I wasn't sure if I actually wanted to take photos... but, then I realized this was a moment to remember. My great uncles (my grandpa's 3 brother's) aren't together very often... at all. And, we barely get to see them. I know my future generations will appreciate these photos... just as I appreciate the photos my family took before I was born so I could see my past family!}

{This cemetery was gorgeous! Wildlife everywhere... so well kept and loved. AND, my baby butt, Ruari, was there. :D She wont remember her grandpa... but, she'll have the photos to see she went to his funeral to celebrate is life.}
{And, one more thing... my brother carried my pretty purse/diaper bag the entire time we were there! That's like 2 hours! What a good brother. I'm sure he'll appreciate the photos I took of him. ;D}
{And, if you all get a moment....
I'd LOVE a vote! :D}

{There she is. My sweet new tattoo. I've had the flowers on my shoulder for about three years now... and, have been scheming out my newest addition ever since then! I wanted it to sort of be a continuation of the shoulder tat. There's a honey bee by my wrist... she represents Ruari for me... AND, I also added two bees on the front and back of my shoulder... these represent Mike and I.}
{I had planned to add more branches/touch up my original tat, but because of the surprise Angus butt surgery costs... I thought it was best to scale it down. :) Maybe this fall I can add more? :) And, I wont be filling it in. It's done with grey ink and she just did some shading. Exactly how I wanted it. It will fade more and look as light as my shoulder in... I don't know... 3 years? :D}
{Let's talk about my amazing tattoo artists... Traci Manley from New Rose Tattoo in Portland, OR. She did the original... and then she did my addition. She's so talented. Please check out her website and visit her portfolio. She's awesome. AND... hey! If you're in Portland and need a tat... why not schedule one real quick at New Rose Tattoo? Great idea!}

{We wandered over to the Beaverton Farmer's Market.... which is so huge and awesome! One of the main reasons we went was to check out the local beef and chicken farmers. Were trying to switch over to hormone/antibiotic free range raised animals... and local! As much as I love fuzzy sweet animals... I do love to eat them. And, I want them to be treated well and taken care... before I eat them. :) There were actually a couple of farmer's there selling their meats that will be offering a whole butchered cow in the near future. We're thinking of splitting a cow with a couple of friends... we have a nice large freezer.... now breastmilk free... to store it in. ;D It was holding my massive collection of pumped milk... not anymore. ;D Happy Wednesday!}
